My heart breaks…

January 27, 2010

As I sit here trying my hardest to hold in tears, nothing I could feel right now can possibly compare to that of my dear friend and fellow photographer, Shannon of SW Photography.  Her husband, Lt. Clinton Wermers, was on a cross country training mission (Navy) when the plane crashed in to Lake Pontchartrain around 6:30 Saturday evening. The student pilot in training was found alive about two hours after the crash and the search continued to find Clinton.  We all prayed for a miracle. Sadly, divers recovered his body sometime early this morning. Shannon and Clinton have two beautiful daughters and a third child on the way..which you can see below.  A trust fund has been set up for the children’s education. Donations can be made to the Air Warrior Courage Foundation online by clicking HERE. I spoke with Shannon earlier and she said that she had no problems if anyone would like to bring food by… that it would be most appreciated!  If you would like to do so, please call me for her address. Shannon, her girls and family all need our prayers and support. Shannon, my heart truly breaks for you and I pray that God gives you the peace to get through this tragedy one day at a time. We are all here for you!

I borrowed this image off of Shannon’s blog:

Brit: Just RT your tweet about this. It is a very heartbreaking story and am keeping her family in my thoughts. My fiance is a pilot, so I can only imagine what is going through her mind, and how I feel when he is out flying.

Andrea: They are in our thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what she is going through.

On a freezing winter day in Florida.. yes I do realize that the words freezing and Florida don’t really go together…but it was barely 30 degrees.. I headed out to Eden State Gardens to finally meet Kelly and Mark. They booked me for their wedding some time ago and when Kelly called me to book a session on their visit to finalize wedding plans I was thrilled. I have so many out of state brides that it’s not very often that I get to do engagement pictures for my couples. Right away Kelly, Mark and I had an instant connection and I am SUPER thrilled with their images. Before they were even competely uploaded I was calling their amazing wedding planner Robyn of Mix Mingle Glow telling her what naturals they are in front of the camera. Kelly and Mark.. I can’t wait to shoot your wedding!!!

This post was SO hard for me! There are SO many images that I wanted to post from each and every wedding but I challenged myself to pick a favorite… yes.. A favorite. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a bit indecisive..so trust me that the task at hand was not simple. (Okay.. okay!! I admit calling myself a bit indecisive is a MAJOR understatement!) Last year was AMAZING. It ended with many new friends and families that I get  to watch grow over the years and I couldn’t be happier about that.  Thank you to everyone who helped make the year so amazing..from my family and friends to my awesome clients! You are all fabulous and I adore you! So in no particular order:

Last Christmas I had the pleasure of meeting sweet Alyssa. Her mom Jenni had set up a session several months before and we made our way to the beach. So when she called again several months ago to book a session that included both her and Alyssa as well as her hubs and in-laws I was more than delighted!! Since I’ve now had the chance to meet both Jenni’s family and the family she married in to… I can say that she is surrounded by amazing people! Thank you, Jenni.. for thinking of me again! I can’t wait to watch Alyssa grow even more!

Where does the time go?! This day, one year ago, I was in Cambridge, Maryland shooting my first of many destination weddings for the year. Over the course of the last (almost) two years Melissa and I grew together not only with a client/vendor relationship.. but with a friendship that I’ve grown to appreciate more than words can ever say. She has truly become one of my best friends and I can’t imagine my life without her. It honestly feels like we have been friends for a lifetime..not just a few years. She and Nicholas both have accomplished so much in the last year and I’m so very proud of them both! They are the epitome of love, compassion and understanding and I know that they will live a long and happy life together. Melissa and Nicholas.. Happy Anniversary! I love you both!!!

Here are a couple pictures of this awesome couple from their Day After Session and then a shot of them and their growing family (LOVE Molly!) taken for Christmas by Melissa’s sis-in-law Denise!
