Out of the Office!!

HOLA!! Ok.. so best made plans and preparing to go out of town on vacation didn’t allow me to get another blog up yet but I’m working on it.. I posted several sneaks on Facebook so head that way if you want to see what I’ve been up to! In the meantime.. I’m going on a cruise!!!!!! It’s my first ever and I will be out of the office until Tuesday the 27th.. so if you email me and I don’t get back with your right away. .that’s why!!! Have a great week!!!!!!!!

Oh. My. Goodness. Let me just say that never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be nearly 6 months before I posted a real blog. I have had some life changing events that combined with my workload made it more important to get clients galleries up than to stop and blog… it’s unbelievable how much time and preparation really goes into a blog. If you are a friend on Facebook you may have picked up clues and hints as to what’s been going on… if not shoot me an email. While I love sharing my life with everyone there are things that I just don’t feel need to be “public” but if asked I am not ashamed or scared to tell what’s been going. Suffice it to say though.. things are looking up! I’ve turned a new leaf, I’m getting back on track and oh.. back on blogging! Although I’ve always known this.. it is so important in this industry for clients to be able to connect with their photographer on a personal level.. and if I’m not posting.. well.. that just can’t happen.

So..here goes… I’m going to skip around a little bit.. starting with WPPI in Vegas in March.. then I’ll go back to my Jamaica wedding in February…WOOHOO!

So.. this year.. I got to go with the ever fabulous Tiffany Vaughan to Vegas. Since the room price was the same as a regular MGM room we got a suite at the Signature and were able to save money because *gasp* we had a stove! We cooked all meals but dinner in the room. Our breakfast and lunch for five days was only $100..for both of us! Then of course we splurged at dinner time… The Cheesecake Factory being my favorite. I got to hear some amazing speakers but I think my most favorite were Justin and Mary Marantz.. why you may ask? It was obvious from the very beginning the foundation of their business was love. I walked away with so much more than just information to help my business.. I walked away with information to help improve my life. We went to the Airhorns and Lasers party hosted by the Southern Weddings ladies as well as other awesome sponsors such as Smilebooth I bought an amazing Betsey Johnson outfit..that I will very soon have a photoshoot in because I’m not sure when there will ever be another party for me to be able to wear it to..LOL. I also had the pleasure of Tiffany photographing a boudoir session for me! It was my first and I am SOO overly pleased by the pictures. I’ve found that being able to be the subject of a shoot really helps me relate to my clients when I should boudoir for them!! I know I’m missing so much from this trip because it was over three months ago but those are definitely a few of the highlights I took away. Now for some pictures!!

I FINALLY got to meet some amazing mentors… Melissa Koehler, Cathy Crawley and David Baxter (I also got to meet the fabulous Jen and Chris Stewart and Kim Baxter though I don’t have a picture with them!!)!! Oh.. and this is the Bestey Johnson outfit!!!

I Love You So…

“I love you.” ”How much?” ”So much.” ”How much is ’so’?” “WAY, WAY MORE than you know…”

The book “I love you so…” by Marianne Richmond sums up everything I could possibly feel for my beautiful daughter. The first time I read it to her I cried. We read it every day. But today, on Mother’s Day, it reminds me just how blessed I am and how much I could never ask for a more perfect little girl. If you are a mother or even a father… I know you’ll appreciate this book.

My favorite passage from the book reads:

“I can’t imagine life before you came along… me there singing senseless, no meaning to my song. Call it meant to be or simply blesses fate, you fill my heart with love and for that I celebrate.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing mothers! I hope your day is just as fabulous as you are!!!

So…. it’s that time of year when everyone has been working all winter to get back in shape.. what better time for some tasteful and sexy boudoir portraits?! I’m starting to do more and more sessions now, so when one of the trainers at my gym told me she wanted to do a session for her hubby I was thrilled! I ADORE this image.. I’ll be posting more soon!!! (Ps.. she’s a Sox fan.. but her hubby is a Cubs fan…so this was REALLY hard for her to put on this jersey!!)

It seems hard to believe that I just got back from Jamaica a few weeks ago and here I am packing up for another six days to head to Las Vegas for the annual WPPI convention!!! I can’t believe it’s here and I’m stoked to say that I will be able to spend five fabulous days learning, shooting and hanging out with amazing photographers from around the country.

Before I left though I couldn’t help but get a sneak up for Vioncka and Nicholas. This is one amazing and sweet couple.. I was honored to be a part of their private ceremony! Thank you both for allowing me to share with you!!! More to come later!!

Out of the Office • Jamaica Bound!!!!

I will be out of the office from today (February 4th) until February 10th. I’ll be shooting a wedding in Jamaica and taking a bit of extra time with the hubs on our first vacation together (aka-alone) in SIX YEARS! I will have limited email access so I will try to get back with anyone that contacts me asap. Thanks for understanding! Also want to give a shout out to my mother in law for staying with Kay.. you two have a blast!!! Here’s a picture from Ocho Rios where we will be staying!

As I sit here trying my hardest to hold in tears, nothing I could feel right now can possibly compare to that of my dear friend and fellow photographer, Shannon of SW Photography. Her husband, Lt. Clinton Wermers, was on a cross country training mission (Navy) when the plane crashed in to Lake Pontchartrain around 6:30 Saturday evening. The student pilot in training was found alive about two hours after the crash and the search continued to find Clinton. We all prayed for a miracle. Sadly, divers recovered his body sometime early this morning. Shannon and Clinton have two beautiful daughters and a third child on the way..which you can see below. A trust fund has been set up for the children’s education. Donations can be made to the Air Warrior Courage Foundation online by clicking HERE. I spoke with Shannon earlier and she said that she had no problems if anyone would like to bring food by… that it would be most appreciated! If you would like to do so, please call me for her address. Shannon, her girls and family all need our prayers and support. Shannon, my heart truly breaks for you and I pray that God gives you the peace to get through this tragedy one day at a time. We are all here for you!

Mark • Kelly ~ The Engagement!

On a freezing winter day in Florida.. yes I do realize that the words freezing and Florida don’t really go together…but it was barely 30 degrees.. I headed out to Eden State Gardens to finally meet Kelly and Mark. They booked me for their wedding some time ago and when Kelly called me to book a session on their visit to finalize wedding plans I was thrilled. I have so many out of state brides that it’s not very often that I get to do engagement pictures for my couples. Right away Kelly, Mark and I had an instant connection and I am SUPER thrilled with their images. Before they were even competely uploaded I was calling their amazing wedding planner Robyn of Mix Mingle Glow telling her what naturals they are in front of the camera. Kelly and Mark.. I can’t wait to shoot your wedding!!!
