Archive for the ‘Features’ Category

A few months ago I ran across a photography contest on Destin Commons website called Capture the Moment. They had both a professional category and an amateur category. As soon as I saw it I knew that I had the perfect pictures to send! I photographed Sara’s family at Destin Commons during the summer of 08′ before her husband was preparing to deploy. I entered the picture that to me best captured the moment at Destin Commons and I won! I was so excited and just saw that the Autumn issue of Destin Magazine is out in which my entry was featured! Check it out!

On another note, I will be away from the office until next Wednesday! I will be traveling to New Jersey and New York. I will be shooting Brenda of Best Wedding Sites family on Friday, Melissa and Dave’s wedding on Saturday and their day after session on Sunday. Sunday night I will be attending GetMarried.com’s Launch Party and then Monday and Tuesday will be filled with venturing around New York City and hopefully meeting up with a few online photographer friends along the way! I plan on taking lots of pictures!!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

GetMarried.com’s new magazine has finally hit stores! It’s a great source for inspiration for couples planning weddings and also has a local resources section for areas of Colorado to Florida and Georgia t0 b Rico. It’s a must have for all brides still in the planning stages of their wedding.

I also have to give myself a little shout out! This summer I had the pleasure of shooting the President and Founder of GetMarried.com, Stacie Francombe, along with her beautiful family in Seaside.   Much to my excitement and pleasure she asked if she could use one of the pictures I shot of her for her publisher’s page in the magazine! Of course I said yes! I was so excited that she wanted to use one of my pictures!! I’m also excited because I will be giving out copies of the magazine to any brides that I meet with or book with between now and January! I took a screen shot for you to see but to see the whole thing be sure to grab a copy of the magazine (or you know.. call me to book your wedding!)!

Brenda's Wedding Blog: Congratulations on the photo feature - I'm hoping to receive my copy of Get Married by Saturday - there's so much talk about it. I can't wait to see the issue in person.

Bride Blogger: I just found out you can flip through the magazine online! I am so excited to get my copy!!

Ok so I will be the first to admit I have never been good at resting. I go, go, go until I just crash usually. It’s been a part of my nature oh.. since birth! However, Thursday brought on a whole new meaning of rest! If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you will know that I had an outpatient surgery on Thursday. The reason for the surgery was that I have been having severe pains in my abdominal area that my doctor thought were being caused from endometriosis. I can not even being to tell you the amount of prayers I received from my amazing family and friends!!

After the surgery the doctor talked to the hubs. I was obviously out of it. I DO NOT have endometriosis!! WOOHOO! I can’t begin to tell you what a relief that was. I did however have two large ovarian cysts (the he took care of) and I possibly have a blocked fallopian tube. What’s all the mean?? I don’t really know because I haven’t had my follow up yet. What I do know is that my amazing doctor took wonderful care of me and my fear of never being able to have kids again is now gone!

I am not allowed to drive until Monday and I can not lift anything for the next two weeks. That’s a little difficult with a two year old but she is adjusting!

On another note.. I found out today that Chris and Laurie’s wedding was featured on the Florida Bride’s Blog on Thursday!! Danielle and Cassandra are both Florida Brides and decided to create a blog that was dedicated to all real Florida weddings, details, resources and ideas for the modern Florida Bride. If you’re still in the planning stages of your wedding be sure to check out their site!!!

With almost three weeks off, I will be doing lots of editing..oh yea.. and RESTING!! That also happens to mean I will be doing lots of blogging!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Kimberly Petty: Wow you have been through a lot! I am glad you are ok and getting the well deserved rest. Love your new pic and congrats on the featured wedding. Looking forward to reading the blog some more. Thank you for being a wonderful inspiration to me.

Christy Lynn: Leslie, I am so thankful that you do not have endometriosis! It sounds like everything will be just fine, you are in the best of hands, Gods! Congrats on the feature Girl, you deserve it!

I must say that my world of business is changing so dramatically and so quickly that I never saw it coming. Never did I think I would see a day when people would actually email me and ask me to feature my work. However it’s happened! Several times now.. and I honestly just can’t believe it! I don’t think I have ever been more passionate about anything else in my life.. well aside from Kaydence! God has blessed me with the most amazing clients and the best life a girl could dream for. Thank you to everyone who has touched my life and guided me and supported me. Without all of you.. and you know who you are.. I wouldn’t be here today! So check out the Stylish Events blog! They featured Tommy and Michelle’s wedding (must give a shout of to Melissa Manzione who was my second shooter for their day!!)!

I’ve also been featured by April Noyce..aka The Wedding Scrapper as a featured photographer.
Brenda of Best Wedding Sites featured Brandon and Kimmy’s wedding as a four part feature on her blog! Check out Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4!!!

I also failed to mention that I had a featured wedding in TWO magazines last fall. I was informed about one.. the second was a total surprise! I will try to blog on those at another time.

Seriously, from the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you to these amazing vendors that have taken the time to feature my work. I know I say it all the time but I am extremely humbled and flattered! It really means the world to me!!!  Thank you!!! I hope everyone has a terrific Thursday!!!!

Melissa Manzione: Awesome Les!!! They were such a fun couple to work with.... and you are such a great photographer to learn from. You've got it all!

Christy Lynn: You go Girl! This is fantastic and so deserving!

Tiffany: Congrats!!! It's easy to see why you have received so many features, your work is amazing!

So I must say that in the past I’ve had very mixed emotions about calligraphy for well.. anything. Most of the samples I have seen usually have a very “Victorian” feel to me and sometimes it really just doesn’t match the event. However, thanks to the power of social media.. aka.. Twitter.. I have had the opportunity to network with a wonderful young woman named Amanda. Let me tell you, Amanda is doing AMAZING things with her recently launched website, SwoonOverIt.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE her creativeness and her work. I can guarantee that when I plan a big event.. aka my vow renewal ceremony.. I will be calling her because she is nothing short of fabulous. I snapped a few quick shots of her promotion package that I had her send me but to see more please visit her website. You can find her on twitter as well!  She does place cards, shirts, envelopes and more! I have to say one of my personal favorites was the personalized map of directions!! I hope you are all having a Wonderful Wednesday!!

Ursula Graham: Ooohhhh! I agree with you, I'm not big into calligraphy. Some of it seems to be an older style or a little too fancy for my tastes. But what I see here is totally wicked cute!
